Contract Cleaners for the Avondale location discovered 5 rear window panels shattered. Public Safety Aides reported to the location. There was no signs of entry into the building. Cleaning personnel had also discovered BBs outside on the sidewalk. The Avondale Police Department and Rio Salado Maintenance & Operations was notified.

While inside of the Testing Center, and being provided with instructions and requirements for the course, known student experienced a medical challenge (dry mouth, numb hands and teeth, and pounding chest).  Student went to the women's restroom.  Student returned to the Testing Center.  Student was shaking.  A short time later, the student stated that she was okay and left the building.  Student refused medical attention.

While inside of the Library, unidentified student began to bleed from the ear.  The blood was left on the workstation #1.  This unidentified student also traveled to the women's restroom (second floor, Tower Building).  The unidentified student left a large sum of blood on the floor of this restroom.  The day porter reported to College Public Safety, who was unable to locate the student.  Library advised.

Synopsis of Incident

Unknown person approached the main entrance of the building, while the building was closed.  While at the front entrance, unknown person peered through the windows.  Unknown person then armed himself with a large river rock and intentionally removed a piece of metal from the building's frame.  While armed with these items, the unknown person intentionally damaged the front entrance windows and the large flower pots.  Police arrived and arrested the unknown person.  Phoenix Union School district responded and handled.

While inside of classroom, student was retrieving his backpack from the floor near him, when he was bitten by a scorpion.  The student alerted the classmates and instructor.  The classmates killed the scorpion.  College Public Safety summoned the emergency services, no response.  College Public Safety escorted student to his vehicle, carrrying the  backpack.  Maintenance & Operations provided services for the location.

Synopsis of Incident

Student became irate after not having enough time to complete her test, as previously advised.  While student was upset and verbally abusing the employees, the student suffered a possible "panic attack."  Emergency Services were summoned.  Student refused medical attention.  Student's mother became upset as well.  Both left the building and property, after the student refused medical attention.

While employee's vehicle was parked in the parking lot, another vehicle (blue) parked next to employee's vehicle, damaging the left front fender.  The incident was not viewable via the recorded camera footage.  Police was not summoned.  Employee became upset and left the building and property.

While at the Cafe Breakfast Bar counter, employee opened the pastry bin, at which time, one of the ceramic pastry trays slid from the shelf, striking employee in the chest area.  Employee was injured, slight bruise.  Employee refused medical attention.

Synopsis of Incident

Tower Building fire alarm sounded.  Total building evacuation began.  Tempe Fire Department responded, met with College Safety Officer and Maintenance & Operations employee.  Tempe Fire conducted a total assessment of the building, negative results.  Determined the problem was a malfunctioning fire panel.

An associate of a known student entered the Bookstore.  While inside of the Bookstore, the associate of the student removed two textbooks from the shelves, placing same inside of his backpack, left the location.  Value: approximate $200.00.  GateWay Community College experienced an attempt to sell the textbooks to their Bookstore.
